What a Difference a Day Makes…

I knew the interviews would be critical in exposing the true character of the candidates, but I didn’t expect it to be so dramatic. It has been clear from the start that Paul was an asshole, but thought he would have enough cop to play the game and make himself look good. To say he shot himself in the foot with his disastrous interviews today would be such an understatement. Concentrating on Big Issue salesmen as something that makes him angry - what kind of Tulip is he?
Ansell should have drawn on his footballing career - everyone said he was a one trick wonder, a great salesman and nothing else… but you don’t get to play for a First Division team without huge dedication, commitment, and ambition for starters. He put up a good fight, and any company that receives a CV From Ansell “As Seen on the Apprentice” Henry will be very pleased. Hes the only candidate who never let himself down, and though he wasn’t the man for this job, he should do very well out of this 10 week interview with a project management/sales team leader position somewhere.
Clearly, Michelle has the job. Although I never liked her (still don’t), she was impressive today and did well in the interviews. Alan was probing for a sense of personality, but got nothing - thats a drawback… shes a dark horse. The best of a bad lot perhaps.

I have to confess that I’m rooting for The Badger. There’s just something about her that makes me want her to succeed. I don’t trust that other woman at all at all. But The Badger - seems like a true case of what-you-see-is-what-you-get.
I found the episode very exciting and surprising. I really thought Ansell had the best chance of winning the whole thing and was surprised that he was sent home. Paul - blech - a legend in his own mind. No surprises there with him. (He is absolutely suited to being a recruiter and I don’t mean that as a compliment.)
Should be exciting to see the big finale.

I acknowledge that Ruth (I won’t slur the good name of badgers by associating them with her) is very good at what she does - a phenomenal saleswoman, efficient, and has a number of good qualities… but surely there is no way Alan could work with her. He showed this earlier in the series when he nearly fired her simply because he couldn’t stand her personality. Last week on the cruise, she was a disaster, and only stayed because she was pitted against the lost cause Sayed.
Looking at the other Irish blogs - Conor agrees with you, and so does Potato, who goes so far as to say “Ruth - she is so cute, I’m completely in love.” I wonder if we are watching the same Ruth? Didn’t you see her in the board room last week always trying to get the last word in, unprofessional and arguing childishly. Her interviews were terrible, but most crucially in the fact that half of Amstrad would walk out due to being unable to work with her. “Cute” is a word that I could only use to describe The Anti-Ruth.
