$11.7M for a Soup Can

May 11th, 2006

One of Andy Warhol’s famous soup can paintings “Small Torn Campbell’s Soup Can (Pepper Pot)” sold for $11.7 million at Christie’s Post-War & Contemporary Art Evening Sale in New York. I’m afraid that if you look at a thing long enough, it loses all of its meaning. I’m afraid that this is starting to look like a can of soup with a torn label.
