Amazon Doesn’t Love You Anymore

May 16th, 2006

I’ll add my voice to the mounting frustration among Irish internet users resulting from Amazon UK’s decision to stop delivering certain items to Ireland.

Amazon: if its costing you too much to ship to Ireland, then maybe… raise the shipping charges? I see no good reason why they would pull the plug on their Irish customers like this, and judging by the reaction on Michele’s blog, Amazon have not been forthcoming with an explanation. Its insulting, and while they continue to ship certain items (such as DVDs), this is a very clear statement that they don’t value our business. Viva play.com.

I asked them about their policy through their customer service system.

Here’s the contents of my email and their response. Needless to say, I’m truly baffled…

    Me:
    Hi there,

as a long time customer and a recent sign-up to the affiliate
program, I was disappointed to see that you do not deliver PC and video games to Ireland.

What is the reason for this?

    Yours,

Hah, “System error”. Turns out Michele has now got the same response off them. Are the support staff mistaken or, have they done a u-turn on the policy, or was it a genuine mistake on their part? Either way, they need to review their procedures.

  3. Michele Says:

Seems they’re giving that excuse to everyone… I’ll be following it up in the next couple of days, as it’s completely unsatisfactory.
