Firefox seems especially snappier. I really like the new GNOME deskbar applet too.

I upgraded to Ubuntu 6 (“Dapper Drake”) from Ubuntu 5 (“Breezy Badger”, which I was already pleased with) and was pleasantly surprised to find that my system is much more responsive than with Breezy. I can see where they're coming from, having used the old text based debian installers, but the Ubuntu installer always seemed very user-friendly. Sounds like this is better yet. Perhaps they're on their way to fixing Bug #1

Thanks a lot for the offer – but I already convinced someone to get it for me last night, so I’ll be picking that up this evening (thanks mang).

Sounds good – I think one thing which has been traditionally off-putting to people who try to make the move to Linux is the installer. I chose the top item on the boot menu, whatever that was, and it booted straight into a Gnome desktop, livecd style, and that's where I'm posting from now.Two icons on the desktop, one with various example files (ogg audio and video, openoffice files, selected chapters from the Ubuntu book), a second labelled Install. Time to click! :)

Stunning.
