I’m learning new stuff every day on my MacBook Pro. Today, OS X Hacker points out how you can zoom in on any part of the screen, simply by holding control and dragging two fingers along the trackpad. I can’t see this being useful, but that is beside the point. Little features like this are what makes OS X really cool… I will find it difficult to go back to Linux on my desktop.

Handy for zooming in on youtube videos
Well well, if it isn’t the man who converted me to Mac. Any tips of your own PPC?
Start using VirtueDesktop and Quicksilver and you’ll never go back to another os :>
Looks like that fucked up, use quicksilver and virtue desktop
Fixed it.. I think because you had two links it goes into moderation queue to stop spammers. Not too sure about the Virtue desktop… is it just eye candy? I’m paranoid about eye candy, since for me it has only caused unnecessary problems (e.g., XGL/Compiz on Ubuntu).
Quicksilver… I have heard so much about it and I still can’t figure out exactly what it is. I downloaded it the other day but haven’t had a chance to try it out yet.
btw, do you use Yojimbo?
Haven’t used Yojimbo, but i’ll give it alook
Theres a pretty good quicksilver guide here thats worth a look.
Virtue is just a multiple desktop manager, its got eye candy, but it can be disabled. I’ve been using it for 3 years now and i’ve never had issues.
I’ve sent an invite for joost onto your blog address, its got a mac client now and its worth checking out
Thanks… will have a look at that, and will give Virtue a bash while I’m at it I suppose. Multiple desktops are good. I’ve actually had a Joost account for a few weeks now – thanks for the thought anyway. I wasn’t recommending Yojimbo… its just that it was another one that I saw recommended alongside Quicksilver so I downloaded that too. Don’t know what to make of it… its very ‘Macish’
For another (useless) video trick try control+option+command+8 – great for using on other people’s macs when they leave the room!
Thats a coincidence – I just discovered ctrl-option-command+8 two days ago and have been using it regularly since then. It makes the screen more visible in the dark… probably in the sun too but I haven’t tried that yet.
